Short version

Raysid does not collect or transmit any personal information, and never uploads your radiation measurements. All measurements and the map you record stay on your iPhone. The only network activity is the optional community map overlay, which downloads public radiation-map tiles from raysid.com; doing so reveals your IP address and the map area you are viewing to that server, as with any online map. You can turn the overlay off.

What information the app can access

Raysid uses the following iOS permissions:

• Bluetooth: to connect to a RAYSID gamma spectrometer over Bluetooth Low Energy. This is the only way the app can function. No Bluetooth data is transmitted anywhere outside the connection between the phone and the RAYSID device.
• Notifications: to alert you when a radiation threshold is crossed while the app is open. Notification content is generated on your device from the readings it receives; it is not sent anywhere.
• Location (while using the app): used only when you turn on map recording, to tag your radiation readings with where they were taken so the app can draw your personal radiation map. Location is used in the foreground only (no background tracking), and the resulting map is stored on your device and is not uploaded.

The app does not request access to: camera, microphone, contacts, photos, health data, or any other iOS-protected data type.

What is collected

No personal data and no measurements leave your device. The app:

• Does not transmit measurements, location, or your recorded map to any server.
• Downloads public community map tiles from raysid.com only when the community overlay is enabled. These are ordinary map-tile requests; raysid.com can see your IP address and which tiles (i.e. the map area) you request, the same as loading any web map. No measurements, location history, or identifiers are sent.
• Does not include analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs.
• Does not create user accounts, usernames, or identifiers.
• Does not read or write Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA).
• Does not use cookies, tracking pixels, or device fingerprints.

Any settings you change (alarm thresholds, log-scale preference, etc.) are stored locally on your device in iOS's standard preference storage. They are erased if you delete the app.

Spectrum files you choose to export (N42 format) are written to iOS temporary storage and shared to whichever app you select in the share sheet (Files, Mail, AirDrop, etc.). Apple's share sheet handles the transfer; Raysid does not see the destination.

Third parties

Raysid has no third-party analytics, SDKs, or service integrations in the current version.

Future versions may add optional features that upload radiation readings to community mapping projects (e.g., ZhavaMista). When such a feature exists, it will be opt-in, disclosed in this policy, and controllable per-upload (public vs. private). You will have to explicitly enter credentials for any third-party service; the app will not auto-share data.

Children

Raysid does not target children and collects no data from any user. The app is rated 4+ on the App Store because its content is not objectionable; it is not marketed to children.

Changes to this policy

If material changes are made to this policy, the version on this page will be updated. The effective date at the top tracks the most recent change.

Your rights

Because Raysid collects no personal information, the access/deletion/portability rights under GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations do not yield any data to surface — there is nothing for us to return or delete. Deleting the app from your device removes all local state.
